The annual Community Christmas Dinner was a HUGE success. We served 570 dinners, which includes deliveries and takeouts. And we utilized our newly renovated basement for extra eating space and had lots of comments about what a wonderful facility we have there, too. The food was delicious (thanks to the efforts of the head chef Jerry Long and his crew). Jerry worked many, many hours in the kitchen, so please express your thanks to him the next time you see him. He really IS a good cook! With the “experience” we gain each year, things run smoother each year! Barb and Larry Williams did a fantastic job of heading up the whole thing, and we thank them so very much. This takes months of planning and preparation, so please give them your thanks, too. Kay and Mark Goble were co-coordinators and helped a lot, too. There have been wonderful comments from people in the community who attended the dinner and also we’ve received several cards of thanks from people who were visiting from out of town, and they all want us to continue for many years to come! The food and fellowship were great. Barb & Larry will be writing an article for the Mountain Mail soon thanking EVERYONE who helped in any way.As “General of the Dining Room” (volunteer coordinator), I had many volunteers come to me after their “shift” thanking me for letting them help, and they all said they’ll be back again next year to help – everyone seems to enjoy just being there and helping!
